Book Composition

Two families requested their family history notes be designed into a book. It was a thought provoking process working through what was important and which photos to highlight.

The Smith Family book was particularly heavy with 5 sections from different family branches – I colour coded each section using a variety of duotones and tritones to keep the historic feel but add interest. This ended up being a perfect-bound paperback due to the cost of producing over 280 pages.

The Carrington’s notes became a compilation of anecdotes, as many family members had tales to tell of their grandparents, with little real research. This book was produced as a hard back on proline uncoated paper.

I supplimented the images provided to me with historical images and maps found online. This added meaning to the text and a deeper understanding of each of the families’ history.
